Inflation Ignorance Exhibit A
This headline appeared in The Gateway Pundit on October 11, 2022. The article was written by Jordan Conradson:
WATCH LIVE: Kari Lake Holds ‘Inflation Relief Press Conference’ In Phoenix Arizona, Announces Plan to Fight Bidenflation And Abolish Grocery and Rent Tax
I copied the following from the comments section. It was posted by someone who is apparently familiar with my writings on this subject:
This is nonsense on several levels:
"According to the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics,
Phoenix-Mesa-Scottsdale have the highest inflation rate, at 13%, in the
country." [Bad grammar: "has" NOT "have"]
Inflation is the same in all states. It does not vary among commodities within the United States or vary among the states within the United States. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is not a measure of inflation.
Inflation is real, but it is likely not measurable and certainly not reversible, although the CPI is often reducible.
Inflation is ONLY the expansion (and thus devaluation) of the money supply by the federal government as the states, businesses, and individuals do not have the legal ability to print money.
Taxes affect the CPI, but do not affect inflation.
Neither Lake nor Hobbs nor the author of the quoted headline nor the Federal Bureau of Statistics have any idea what they are talking about. It’s babble.
Our government is a collection of ignoramuses.
